Q:I'm a very dark brunette and I wish my hair was more caramel-colored. Is it even possible for me to lighten my hair without it looking tacky?
A: Carmel color is possible to achieve without looking tacky. Be sure you visit a color specialist, and talk with him or her before you get started. Instead of getting tiny strips of your hair highlighted, ask your stylist for a chunkier highlight. Because the highlighted hair will be separated and blend in with your natural color, you'll get a softer look. Just explain to your stylist that you'd like a subtle, not heavy, look.
