Hair Rx

This Issues Professional:

Samuel Shriqui is a noteworthy stylist of the rich and famous -- or at least the fabulous -- at his upscale salon on the Upper East Side of New York City.

Q:I color my hair, but the ends look darker than the rest. What's up?

A: About 80 percent of our body heat is coming out of our heads, so because of the heat, our roots tend to get a little bit lighter. If the tips are really dark, you should apply a quarter or a half tone darker to the roots so they match the ends. Ask your stylist to apply the color from the back of the head and then move to the front because the front of the hair absorbs color much faster than the back.
